Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Info: Patches was a beautiful domestic short haired cat who had led an active healthy life. When Patches was 16 years old she was diagnosed with a cancer called Squamous Cell Carcinoma of her largynx, causing a whistling sound when she breathed and meowed. Surgery was not an option, but chemotherapy would definitely slow the progression of the cancer and give Patches good quality of life. Patches' owner applied to ACTSS for financial subsidization and Patches began her regular intravenous chemotherapy. Patches did well, but after many treatments the cancer finally came back too aggressively to respond to chemotherapy anymore. In the summer of 2003 Patches crossed the Rainbow Bridge at the grand age of 17 years. Our sympathies to Patches' family.
